BIKE SAFETY

Work with local PD, schools, and organizations to provide bike safety materials to the public at events, health fairs, etc.

CAR SEAT PROGRAM

Here we need certified car seat technicians and those that can help at car seat checkups in non-technicical roles.  To become a certifiec car seat tech., see page on Child Passenger Safety.

WATER SAFETY

More of a seasonal program with kick off on our "May Day Water Safety Day".  Work with local agencies and public to promote safety around water.

FIRE/BURNS/SMOKE DETECTORS

Work with fire department to support their "firesetters" program and provide education to the public on fire prevention.

PEDESTRIAN SAFETY

Promote annual "Walk Your Child to School Day" in October.  Could be an on-going program each spring and fall when classes resume.

NATIONAL SAFE KIDS WEEK

Annual spring event who's theme changes each year based on what SAFE KIDS Worldwide is doing.  Coordinates events to kick-off event.

FIREARM SAFETY

Provides education and hopefully gun locks to the public.

PUBLIC POLICY

Develop and promote policy changes for local and state government for adoption into law.  Example: Yuma's bicycle helmet ordinance was a SAFE KIDS inititive.

MEMBERSHIP & AWARDS

Creative approach to finding and retaining membership.  Recommend ways to thank members and businesses/agencies for support.

FUNDRAISING/DONATIONS

Committee finds funding and/or merchandise or other in-kind donations to support SAFE KIDS activities.

Develop timely news releases and prmos for upcoming events as well as on-going safety articles for media and brand awareness.

STATISTICS & EVALUATIONS

Evaluate data to either validate efforts or show that redirection is needed.  Assist on annual National evaluation of Coalition.

SPEAKERS BUREAU

Develop list of people that can speak on a number of safety issues.  Coordinate with agencies that need speakers.
